Sonata SE vs SEL Sport: What Does $1,800 Add?

The SEL Sport ($29,400) adds 18-inch alloys, dual-zone automatic climate control in place of the SE's manual air conditioning, wireless charging, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated mirrors and paddle shifters to the SE ($27,600). It is also the only Sonata you can order with AWD, for $1,500. The SE keeps the same 191-hp engine and 12.3-inch touchscreen and gets better mileage, 31 mpg combined against 29.

Sonata SEL vs Limited: Is the Hybrid Limited Worth It?

The Limited is now hybrid only, so the real comparison is the Hybrid SEL ($32,700) against the Hybrid Limited ($38,500). For $5,800 more, the Limited adds a head-up display, Surround View, Remote Smart Parking Assist, Bose audio, navigation, Highway Driving Assist, Digital Key 2 and a trunk that powers open and closed by itself, not just the hands-free opener every Sonata has; both get 47 mpg combined and 17-inch wheels. If you parallel-park on tight Brooklyn streets every day, Surround View and the parking assist earn their keep. Otherwise, the Hybrid SEL is the better buy.

Sonata N Line vs Limited: Performance or Comfort?

The N Line ($36,300) is $2,200 cheaper than the Hybrid Limited and far quicker, with a 290-hp 2.5-liter turbo, an 8-speed wet dual-clutch, sport suspension and 19-inch wheels. The Limited is the comfort and efficiency choice: 47 mpg against 27, plus the head-up display and Surround View. Choose the N Line if you enjoy driving on the Belt Parkway on-ramps; choose the Limited if you commute in traffic.

What Happened to the Sonata GLS, SEL Plus and SEL Convenience?

They are older trim names. The GLS was the entry-level Sonata through the 2014 model year, the SEL Plus sat between the SEL and Limited on the eighth-generation Sonata before its 2024 refresh, and the SEL Convenience ($31,050) was on the 2025 price list. For 2026, Hyundai folded the SEL and SEL Convenience into the new SEL Sport, and the Limited name now appears only on the Sonata Hybrid. If you are cross-shopping a used SEL Plus or SEL Convenience, today's SEL Sport is the closest new equivalent.
