2027 Hyundai Palisade: What Changed, Release Date, Trims and Pricing for New York Families

Three rows and a New York address usually means one of two things: you are running two kids to two different schools before work, or you are the one in the family everybody calls when someone needs to get to LaGuardia. The 2027 Hyundai Palisade is built for both, and this year the interesting part is not what changed. It is what did not.

Hyundai redesigned the Palisade from the ground up for 2026, and that generation was such a complete rework that the follow-up model year had very little left to fix. So the 2027 arrives as a carry-over: same 287-horsepower V6, same 329-horsepower hybrid, same cabin, same safety hardware. The change list fits in a paragraph. For a shopper, that is good news dressed up as boring news, because a second-year car on a proven platform is usually the smart buy.

The short version

  • Carry-over model year on the second-generation Palisade launched for 2026. No redesign, no new powertrain.
  • New for 2027: a Calligraphy Black Ink edition on the Palisade Hybrid, and the SEL Convenience trim is gone.
  • Two powertrains: 287-hp 3.5-liter V6 with an eight-speed automatic, or a 329-hp turbo hybrid with a six-speed.
  • Prices up $300 to $400 depending on trim. The SE opens at $39,735 before destination.
  • Seven or eight passengers, with the second-row bench now offered across more of the range.
  • Awards: 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year, plus an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.

What's changing on the 2027 Palisade?

Hyundai's own model summary labels the 2027 Palisade a carry-over, and the list backs that up. There are three items worth your attention, and one of them is a trim that disappears.

The Palisade Hybrid gains a Calligraphy Black Ink edition. Announced in July 2026, it swaps the bright finishes on the range-topping hybrid for dark ones inside and out, from the steering wheel accents and vents to the exterior trim and wheels. At $57,680 before destination in front-drive form, it is the most expensive Palisade Hyundai has ever sold, and in a city where every third SUV is white or gray, an unusually easy one to spot in a garage.

SEL Convenience is dropped. That was a 2026-only rung between SEL and SEL Premium, so the gas ladder simplifies to SE, SEL, SEL Premium, Limited, XRT PRO and Calligraphy. If you had your eye on an SEL Convenience, that is a 2026 car now, not a 2027 one, and leftovers are worth asking about since the equipment sat close to SEL Premium.

Second-row bench seating spreads across more of the lineup. Order guides now show both seven-passenger captain's chairs and eight-passenger bench configurations on SEL, SEL Premium and Limited, plus the Hybrid Blue SEL, at the same price either way. The SE stays an eight-seater. For anyone running a carpool or a large household, having that choice on more trims is a genuinely useful change. Everything else carries over from 2026.

When is the 2027 Palisade release date?

Because this is a carry-over year and not a redesign, there was no auto show reveal and no long wait. Hyundai published 2027 order guides during the first half of 2026, announced the Calligraphy Black Ink in July 2026, and 2027 Palisades began reaching United States dealers over the summer. Volume builds through the fall of 2026 as 2026 inventory sells down.

What that overlap means if you are shopping right now

For a few months most lots carry both model years side by side, and they are mechanically the same vehicle. What differs is the incentive program attached to each, and factory support almost always skews toward the outgoing year. A leftover 2026 Limited and a fresh 2027 Limited can drive identically and land hundreds of dollars apart on a monthly payment. The exception is anything 2027-only: the Calligraphy Black Ink does not exist as a 2026 car. Otherwise, compare the two years on payment rather than on the badge.

Worth knowing: the Palisade is built in South Korea and imported, which means allocation to the Northeast arrives in waves rather than continuously. If you need a specific trim, drivetrain and color combination by a particular date, say so early. It is far easier to flag an inbound unit than to find one on the ground the week you need it.

Will the 2027 Palisade cost more?

Slightly, and less than most model-year rollovers. Order-guide pricing puts the increase at $300 to $400 depending on trim. The gas SE opens at $39,735 before destination, up $300 from the 2026 figure of $39,435, which keeps the entry Palisade under $40,000 on paper. The hybrid line starts at $44,560 for the Blue SEL, up $400. Destination adds roughly $1,650, so the real out-the-door starting point is closer to $41,385 before tax and fees.

All-wheel drive remains a flat $2,000 on gas trims and most hybrids, and XRT PRO comes with HTRAC standard because that is the entire point of the trim.

MSRP is only half the conversation. Rebates, lease residuals and money factors move a monthly payment far more than a $300 sticker change ever will, and those reset every month. Current offers live on our Plaza Hyundai lease deals and specials page, with factory programs under Hyundai incentives.

Even the base trim gets the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full Hyundai SmartSense driver assistance suite — none of it is held back for the expensive trims. The horizontal dashboard layout and physical climate controls carry across every model in the range.

Which trim actually makes sense here? If the Palisade is a second vehicle doing school runs and weekend errands, the SE is no punishment; it has the screen, the safety hardware and eight seats. If it is your only car, SEL Premium is the one to look at, and the reason is the Surround View Monitor. Backing into a spot with a bike lane on one side and a hydrant on the other is where a 360-degree camera pays for itself in avoided body shop visits. Limited earns its price on the power-folding third row. Calligraphy is a want, not a need, and its buyers know that. XRT PRO answers a specific question, and if your weekends involve a boat ramp or an unpaved driveway upstate, it is the right answer.

How the 2027 compares with the 2026, and what the last restyle changed

Against the 2026, the differences are the three already covered: the Black Ink hybrid arrives, SEL Convenience leaves, bench seating broadens. Pricing moves $300 to $400. Powertrains, dimensions, screens, safety equipment and warranty are identical. A 2026 and a 2027 Palisade parked next to each other are, to any normal observer, the same car.

The consequential year was 2026, when Hyundai replaced the Palisade entirely. The body grew 2.5 inches longer and the wheelbase 2.7 inches, landing at 199.2 inches on a 116.9-inch wheelbase, roughly 78 inches wide and 69.5 inches tall. The old 3.8-liter V6 gave way to a 3.5-liter making 287 horsepower, and Hyundai added a hybrid for the first time: a 2.5-liter turbo four producing 329 horsepower and, at its most efficient, over 600 miles of range. Cargo grew at every measurement, and the cabin was rebuilt around a horizontal dashboard with Relaxation seating for the first two rows, ten airbags and an integrated front and rear dash cam.

Before that, the last meaningful change was the 2023 restyle of the first-generation car: a new grille and lighting signature, the XRT appearance trim, a Wi-Fi hotspot, USB-C throughout, heated third-row seats and a massaging driver's seat, all on the carryover 291-horsepower 3.8-liter V6. It was a good facelift, and it is why a clean 2023 to 2025 Palisade still shops well used, but it is a different vehicle from what is on the lot today.

Engines, MPG and the hybrid math for city driving

Two powertrains, and in New York the choice is less obvious than it looks on paper. The 3.5-liter V6 makes 287 horsepower and 260 lb-ft through an eight-speed automatic. It is smooth, quiet, tows up to 5,000 pounds properly equipped, and is not quick; a loaded example needs roughly 8 to 8.8 seconds to 60 mph. The 2.5-liter turbo hybrid makes 329 horsepower through a six-speed, does that sprint about a second and a half faster, and returns dramatically better mileage.

EPA estimates. The XRT PRO figure is Hyundai's published 2027 rating; other configurations reflect current published ratings for this generation, which Hyundai has not revised for the carry-over year. Actual mileage varies with load, wheel and tire specification, climate and traffic.

Hybrid Limited / Calligraphy, front-wheel drive313231
Hybrid, HTRAC all-wheel driveRoughly two to three MPG below the equivalent front-drive figure

Run the numbers on how you actually drive. At 12,000 miles a year, the gap between 21 and 34 combined is roughly 220 gallons annually, and where fuel sits well above the national average that is real money. The hybrid also does its best work in exactly the conditions everyone here complains about: stop-and-go on the Belt, a crawl through Queens Boulevard at 5:30, the electric motor handling the low-speed work. Highway-heavy drivers see less of a gap; city drivers see more.

On all-wheel drive: HTRAC costs about $2,000 and two MPG. If the Palisade lives outdoors on a street plowed on the city's own schedule, or your winters involve Hudson Valley trips, it is worth it. If it sleeps in a garage and rarely leaves the five boroughs, front-wheel drive with good all-season tires handles almost everything you will meet.

What makes the Palisade work as a New York vehicle

A 199-inch SUV in this city is a commitment, and worth being honest about before the sales pitch. It will not fit every curb spot, and at roughly 69.5 inches tall it clears most posted garage limits but not all of them. That said, the case for it here is stronger than the length suggests.

Visibility technology does the heavy lifting. The available Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor are not luxury toys on a vehicle this size in this traffic, and parking assistance turns a spot you would have skipped into one you take. On a street where a delivery van is double-parked and a cyclist is coming up the door zone, a bird's-eye view of your own bumpers changes how the car feels to drive.

Three rows means fewer trips, and fewer trips is the whole game. Eight seats and 19.1 cubic feet behind the third row covers a carpool with backpacks. Fold the third row for 46.3 cubic feet and you have a stroller, a week of groceries and a hockey bag at once. Drop both rows for 86.7 and the Saturday furniture run is solved without renting anything. USB-C in all three rows is standard, which sounds trivial until you are on the BQE with four devices at nine percent.

The warranty is a city-specific argument. Ten years or 100,000 miles of powertrain coverage and five years or 60,000 miles of basic coverage matter more where cars take a real beating from potholes, road salt, curb rash and the attrition of parking outdoors. Complimentary maintenance runs the first three years or 36,000 miles.

And the part nobody plans for. Without a driveway, service is the actual friction of owning a car here. Our service department runs pick-up and drop-off across the NYC metro area, so an oil change happens while you are at work instead of eating a Saturday, and we deliver purchased vehicles free within 25 miles.

Parking assistance in action, and arguably the single most important feature on this vehicle for a New York driver. On a 199-inch SUV, the difference between a spot you take and a spot you drive past is knowing exactly where your bumpers are — and that is a weekly problem here, not an occasional one.

Seating eight, and what the third row is actually like

The third row is the question every three-row shopper eventually asks, usually while pretending not to care about the answer. In the Palisade it is 32.1 inches of legroom, at the usable end of the class: fine for teenagers on a run to the Rockaways, fine for adults on a short trip, tight for two adults to Boston. The 60/40 split lets one side fold while somebody rides in the other, which is how most families actually live.

Second-row legroom reaches 43.0 inches, and the available captain's chairs include one-touch tilt-and-slide so a kid can climb back without an adult wrestling the seat. Choose the bench and you get eight seats, which matters if you regularly move more than six people or you are the designated airport driver in an extended family. Power-folding, sliding, reclining and heated third-row seats are available on upper trims.

Awards, safety and why this generation landed so well

The current Palisade has collected the recognition that matters most to family shoppers. In January 2026 it was named North American Utility Vehicle of the Year by the NACTOY jury, a panel of 50 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. The IIHS awarded it Top Safety Pick+, the organization's highest honor, with Good results across the crash tests conducted, strong headlight performance and a well-designed LATCH system; in front crash prevention testing it avoided a collision in nearly every run. Cars.com named the previous-generation Palisade its Best Family Car for 2025, and Edmunds currently rates the Palisade Hybrid its top-scoring three-row midsize SUV. The nameplate posted its best sales year on record in 2025.

On the hardware side, Hyundai SmartSense is standard on every trim: forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, safe exit assist and driver attention warning. Junction turning detection deserves its own mention, because an unprotected left across oncoming traffic is one of the more common ways a city collision happens. Ten airbags and third-row seatbelt pre-tensioners round out the package.

How the Palisade compares with its rivals

The field is deep: Kia Telluride, Toyota Grand Highlander, Honda Pilot, Mazda CX-90, Ford Explorer, Chevrolet Traverse. The Telluride is the closest relative, sharing engineering with the Palisade and undercutting it by roughly $545 at the entry point for 2027, though the gap narrows to about $1,930 on the hybrids. The Grand Highlander is the toughest hybrid rival, and the Pilot leans more traditional.

Cross-shopping is unusually easy here, because Plaza Auto Mall runs five new-vehicle franchises on one campus. If you want to sit in a 2027 Kia Telluride or a 2027 Honda Pilot the same afternoon, you can, without moving your car. If a minivan is quietly on your list, the 2027 Kia Carnival and the 2027 Honda Odyssey are both worth an honest look. Inside the Hyundai range, the 2027 Tucson is the two-row step down, and the Santa Fe sits between them with an optional third row of its own.

Plaza Hyundai is part of Plaza Auto Mall, a family-owned group that has been selling and servicing cars in New York City since 1975. The campus carries over 1,000 vehicles in stock, and every rooftop sits within a seven-minute walk of the next. If the Palisade is on your list alongside a Telluride, a Pilot or an Odyssey, you compare all of them in one visit instead of spending a Saturday driving between boroughs.

Other ways to shop a three-row

Not every Palisade shopper ends up in a new Palisade, and that is a fine outcome. A certified pre-owned example two or three years old covers much of the same ground for meaningfully less, though anything from 2025 or earlier is the previous generation, without the hybrid option and with a smaller cabin. Certified vehicles go through a factory inspection and carry extended coverage; details are on our certified pre-owned process page. Plenty of people also come in to sort out a trade first. We buy cars outright whether or not you buy one from us.

2027 Hyundai Palisade: frequently asked questions

What is different about the 2027 Palisade compared with the 2026?

Three things. The Palisade Hybrid gains a Calligraphy Black Ink edition with dark exterior and interior finishes throughout. The SEL Convenience trim, offered for 2026, is discontinued. And the eight-passenger second-row bench becomes available across more of the range, including SEL, SEL Premium and Limited, at no additional cost over captain's chairs. Powertrains, dimensions, screens, safety equipment and warranty all carry over unchanged.

When did the 2027 Palisade go on sale in New York?

Units began arriving at dealers during summer 2026, with volume building through the fall. Because it is a carry-over year rather than a redesign, there was no lengthy gap between the order guide and delivery. Expect both 2026 and 2027 examples on lots simultaneously for several months, usually with different incentive programs attached.

How much does the 2027 Palisade cost?

The gas SE opens at $39,735 before destination, up $300 from 2026. Destination adds roughly $1,650. From there the ladder runs SEL at $42,240, SEL Premium at $45,600, Limited at $50,070, XRT PRO at $50,170 with all-wheel drive standard, and Calligraphy at $54,860. The hybrid starts at $44,560 for the Blue SEL and tops out at $57,680 for the new Calligraphy Black Ink. All-wheel drive adds $2,000 where it is optional.

Is the Palisade Hybrid worth the extra money in city driving?

For most people driving mainly in and around the five boroughs, yes. The gas V6 returns about 21 MPG combined; the hybrid reaches 34 combined in its most efficient configuration. Over 12,000 miles a year that difference is roughly 220 gallons of fuel. Hybrids also perform best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor handles low-speed work. Highway-heavy drivers see a smaller advantage and may prefer the V6's smoothness and 5,000-pound tow rating.

How many people does the 2027 Palisade seat?

Seven or eight, depending on the second row. Captain's chairs give you seven; the bench gives you eight. The SE comes with the bench as standard, and for 2027 the choice is offered across more of the lineup at the same price. Third-row legroom measures 32.1 inches, which is usable for teenagers and adults on shorter trips.

How much cargo space does the Palisade have?

There are 19.1 cubic feet behind the third row with all seats up, 46.3 cubic feet with the third row folded, and 86.7 cubic feet with both rear rows down. The load floor is flat when folded, and the cargo opening measures roughly 47.75 inches wide by 32 inches tall, which is why bulky items go in without the usual angling. Underfloor storage is standard across the lineup.

What awards has the current Palisade won?

It was named 2026 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year by the NACTOY jury of 50 automotive journalists, and it earned Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS, the organization's highest safety award. Cars.com named the previous-generation Palisade its Best Family Car for 2025, and Edmunds currently rates the Palisade Hybrid the top three-row midsize SUV in its testing.

Is the Palisade too big to park in New York?

It is a large vehicle at 199.2 inches long and roughly 69.5 inches tall, so it demands more of a parking spot than a two-row crossover. Two things make it manageable: the available Surround View Monitor and Blind-Spot View Monitor, and available parking assistance. If you rent a monthly garage spot, check the posted height clearance before you buy. The Palisade clears most limits but not every older garage.

Does Plaza Hyundai have 2027 Palisades in stock?

Inventory turns over daily as allocation arrives. The live list is on our Palisade inventory page. If the trim, powertrain, drivetrain and color you want are not showing, tell us the exact combination and we will check across the group and against inbound units. Naming the trim, whether you need all-wheel drive, whether you want the bench or captain's chairs, and an acceptable color range usually gets an answer in one search instead of three.

Do you deliver, and what languages does the Plaza Hyundai team speak?

We deliver purchased vehicles free within 25 miles, which covers most of Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, lower Manhattan and much of Nassau County, and our service department offers pick-up and drop-off across the NYC metro area. Our team speaks English, Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Georgian, Arabic, French, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Uzbek, Tajik, Turkish, Haitian Creole, Polish and more, so you can handle the whole transaction in whichever language you negotiate best in.

What is Plaza Auto Mall?

Plaza Auto Mall is the family-owned group Plaza Hyundai belongs to, operating on Nostrand Avenue since 1975. It carries five new-vehicle brands, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, Kia and Acura, each with its own certified pre-owned inventory, along with a body shop. More than 1,000 vehicles sit on the campus and every showroom is within a seven-minute walk of the others, which is why cross-shopping three brands in an afternoon is realistic here.

Where can I browse used vehicles from every Plaza brand at once?

The full multibrand used inventory is at plazaautomall.com/used-inventory. That listing pulls pre-owned vehicles from all of the rooftops into one place, which is the quickest way to compare a used Palisade against a used Telluride, Pilot, Highlander or MDX without opening five tabs.
